Walking route around the town Balashov – day 2

On the second day of the walking in Balashov which was founded in 1780 we would like to introduce you the architecture of this town. Let`s start from a water tower which located on the center of the crossroad between Gagarin Street and Lunacharskogo Street. This water tower was built in the beginning of the XX century.

From the water tower along the Lunacharskogo Street you should go toward north. After the crossroad with Pushkin Street from the right side you will find plant “Mill of Ivanov” which was built in 1904 (Pushkin Street bld 28). After that on the crossroad with Volodarsky Street you will find two interesting buildings of the cultural heritage of Balashov. It is a Women`s gymnasium of Vinogradova (Lunacharskogo bld. 40), it was built in XIX century. Nowadays there is a military commissariat in this building. The second building where was a telegraph and shops (Lunacharskogo bld. 38). This building was built in the beginning of the XX century. Nowadays there is an evening school in the building.

After the crossroad between the Streets Lunacharskogo and Pugachyov from the left side you can find a Medical college (Lunacharskogo Street bld. 30). It was built at the end of XIX century. Further after the Soviet Street from the right side you will find the church of St. Michael the Archangel (Soviet Street bld. 126). It was built in 1887. On the crossroad turn right and go further a little along the Soviet Street, then there on the left side you will see a mustard factory which was built at the beginning of XX century.

After that, go back to the crossroad with Lunacharskogo Street. Pass the crossroad and go along the Soviet Street. After 500 hundred meters on the left side you will find the Baptists church (Soviet Street bld. 153). Earlier in this building was a house of prayer which was built at the end of XIX century. After the church you will reach the crossroad with Karl Marx Street. Here go to the Kuybyshev Park. In the park go along the Memorial alley till the monument of Glory and there turn right. After fifty meters on the right side you will see memorial cross in honor of the Holy Trinity Church which was destroyed in 1936.

After that go back to the monument of Glory and turn right toward the exit of the park. At the exit you will find the Local museum where you can learn an interesting history of Balashov region. And finally take a bus 8 and go till the bus stop Rail yard where at the Rail yard you will find two monuments. The first one is the monument in honor of the workers of the rail yard who were killed in the Second World War. The second monument it is a monument to the Steam locomotive series 9P. Also there is a museum of rail yard on the territory of the Rail yard. Before visit the museum check its working time.

And now, If you still have a strength for a walk then you can take a bus 8 and go to the Balashov Higher Military Aviation School. Have a nice walks.
