Monument of Glory in Balashov

Description
The monument of Glory it is a memorial complex with the Eternal flame in honor of the citizens of Balashov defenders of the motherland who were killed during the wars. A high stele looks like two triangles and is a symbol of two wars; Russian Civil War 1917 – 1922 and the Second World War 1941 – 1945. The dates of the wars are engraved with the big numbers on the back side of the monument.
Bottom part of the monument is a bas-relief around the stele with the images of the defenders of the Motherland. On front side of the monument there is an Eternal flame which looks like star.
Creation history
The monument of Glory was established in the Kuybyshev Park of the town Balashov in 1980 in year of the 200th anniversary of the foundation of Balashov. In the pedestal of the monument was placed a capsule with a letter for next generation who will open this capsule in 2080 in year of 300th anniversary of the foundation of the town. The Eternal flame was lighted by the sportsmen who brought a torch from the Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd.
How to find
From the railway station Balashov-1 by the bus ¹ 8 go till the bus stop Volodarsky Street and exit to the Kuybyshev Park. In the park go to the center where you will find the monument of Glory. Or, also from the railway station Balashov-1 by bus ¹ 3 go till the bus stop next to the Movie Theater “Victory”. Go to the park along the main alley till the monument of Glory.
