Walking route around the town Balashov – day 1

We would like to introduce you very interesting and fascinating walking route around the town Balashov. On the first day we started from the fountain which looks like a Greek god of the seas Poseidon. The fountain is located next to the Hotel “Khopyor” (Karl Marx Street bld. 43) as name of Khopyor River which goes through Balashov.

From the hotel “Khopyor” along the Karl Marx Street we went toward north till the Kuybyshev Park which starts at the Volodarsky Street. In the center of the park there is a monument of Glory. In front of the building 9 on the Karl Marx Street we found the monument to the jet trainer aircraft L-39.

After that along the Karl Marx Street we went to the crossroad with the Soviet Street and there turned left. On the cross road between the streets Soviet and Lenin in front of the Balashov Eparchy we found the monument to the hero of the Soviet Union Belozercev N.A.. Also on the Soviet Street we found the house of the merchant Diakov. At the moment in this house there is a Local museum (Soviet Street bld. 174). After the house of the merchant Diakov we found a beautiful building of the Balashov municipal district administration (Soviet Street bld. 178). On the crossroad with the Communist Street we saw the Flour Mill №7 which was built in 1906.

After that we turned left on the Communist Street and walked till the crossroad with the Pugachyov Street. There we turned left on the Pugachyov Street and went back on the Lenin Street. From the left side of the entrance to the Kuybyshev Park we found old building of the movie theater Victory. In the Park next to the fountain we found the monument to Lenin and two sculptures of the deers.

At the entrance of the Park next to the crossroad between the streets Lenin and Volodarsky we found the monument in honor of the citizens of Balashov who liquidated the horror technology catastrophe on the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986. After that along the Lenin Street we went toward south and on the crossroad with the Working Street we found the monument to Soldiers who were on the war in Afghanistan (1979 - 1989). Also on this crossroad we visited the gymnasium named in honor of U.A. Garnaeva. This gymnasium is oldest educational institution in the town and was founded in 1899 (Lenina Street bld. 22). Further on the crossroad between the streets Lenin and Pushkin we saw old building of the Art school №1 (Pushkin Street bld. 88).

When we reached the Gorohov Street next to the Balashov Drama Theatre we turned left. On the Gorohov Street we found the former Alcoholic Beverages Factory (Gorohov Street bld. 4). After that we went through the railway path and went back on the Karl Marx Street and turned right. On the crossroad with the Street of 167 rifle division we turned right on this Street and on this street we found the Flour Mill №5. After that we went to the stadium “Olimp”.

After the stadium along the Street Sofinskogo we went back on the Karl Marx Street where next to the crossroad we found the church of the Transfiguration. And finally our walk finished next to the railroad station where we found another monument to Vladimir Lenin.
