In the Khamovniki District there is a small but beautiful and very cozy a Garden square – Devichie pole (Girlish field) where you can walk and rest from the city vanity. The garden square is very clean and well-furnished with the multitude paths. If you are getting tired then you can easy find comfortable bench. If you look down at the square then you can see that garden has triangle shape.

There are four monuments in the garden square: the monument to Nil Filatov, the monument to the famous Russian writer Leo Tolstoy, the monument to the pilots of the long-range aviation and the monument to Mikhail Vasilyevich Frunze. Also in the garden you can find beautiful fountain, a football pitch and playgrounds.

Creation history

The garden square begins it`s history in 1685 when by the Tsar`s decree Samsonov meadow was given to Novodevichy Convent. The modern appearance the garden square got in 1948. The team of the architects: Korgev M.P., Chaplin S.V. and Belozersky B.V. worked over the accomplishment of the garden.

How to find

Go to metro station Park Kultury (Koltsevaya Line) and exit to the Garden Ring Street. On the street turn left and go along the Garden Ring till the Zubovskaya area where you should again turn left on the Zubovskaya Street. On the Zubovskaya Street go about three hundred meters till the crossroad with the Street Big Pirogovskaya and the passage Devichie pole where next to the monument to Leo Tolstoy is the entrance to the garden square – Devichie pole.
