Victory Park (Poklonnaya Gora)

Victory Park is divided on two parts. On the east part of Park there is Poklonnaya Hill where 1418 fountains are. It`s number of day of Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945. After fountains there is a monument of Victory in the War. On the bottom part of monument there is a sculpture of St George slaying the dragon. Behind it there is a obelisk it is 141,8 meters. Each 10 cm symbolize one day of the War. On the top of the obelisk there is a sculpture of goddess of victory Nike.

After the monument there is a Museum of the Great Patriotic War. The building has arch shape. Behind the museum there is a Park where you can walk and relax. In the park you can find monument “The tragedy of the peoples” by Zurab Tsereteli. Since 2010 in the park there is a Military Glory Memorial - In the fight against fascism we were together. Also in the park you can find a monument In honor of the missing soldiers without the graves.

In the Park there is a St. George`s Church, a memorial mosque, a memorial synagogue. And of cause in the park there is an exhibition of military equipment and weapons where you can visit two expositions: land military vehicles and naval weapons.

Creation history

Creation history of the Park started in 1958 from established the granite memorial sign with memorial inscription “Here will be builded the monument of Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945”. But the building begins in 1984. In 1995 year of the fiftieth anniversary of the victory in the war Park was opened for visiting.
