Museum-panorama the battle of Borodino it is a museum complex which contains three departments: the main exposition of the panorama the battle of Borodino, Kutuzovskaya izba (Kutuzov`s hut) and museum of the heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia.

The main department also contains three sections. The first and third section contains different thing, weapons, books, paintings times of war in 1812. Also here you will find an interactive map of the battle of Borodino and mannequin of the soldiers dressed in military uniforms. On the way from the sections you can hear the sound of hooves, conversation of the soldiers who are going for support to the main army.

The second and main section it is a panorama the battle of Borodino painted by artist Franz Roubaud. The panorama begins from the volumetric substantive plan, where you can see guns, trench, destroyed house. Behind the substantive plan there is a landscape plan of the battle of Borodino 115 meters in length and 15 meters in height.

Next to the building of the panorama there is a Kutuzovskaya izba (Kutuzov`s hut) where in 1812 was council of war and was decided to leave the Moscow to French aggressor until the reserves will arrive. The third department it is a museum of the heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia. Here you can see photos, documents, private things, military uniform and many other things of the heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia beginning from 1937.

Creation history

The museum-panorama the battle of Borodino was founded in 1837 when was reconstructed the Kutuzovskaya izba (Kutuzov`s hut) and opened a museum in honor of the battle of Borodino. In 1912 on the Chistue prudy (Clean Ponds) was opened a museum-panorama the battle of Borodino. But in 1918 it was closed and only in 1962 on the Kutuzovsky Prospekt anew was opened reconstructed panorama. In 2006 to the museum complex was added new museum of the heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia.

How to find

Go to metro station Park Pobedu (Victory Park) and exit to Kutuzovsky Prospekt next to building 2K2. Go along the Kutuzovsky Prospekt toward the Triumphal Arch. Pass the Triumphal Arch and go till the 1812 street. After the crossroad you will see the museum panorama the battle of Borodino (Kutuzovsky Prospekt bld. 38). Here in front of the museum you can see the monument to the Great Russian commander Mikhail Kutuzov.
