Holy well of Saint David in the village Talezh

Courtyard of the monastery of the Ascension of David desert the Holy well of Saint David in the village Talezh is placed in the big ravine in the village Talezh. Down to the holy well leads the stairs and there a many comfortable paths. The holy well is divided on several streams. Above the well there is a chapel in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Life-Giving Spring”.
The territory of the Holy well is highlighted in the evening. Also there are two fonts, a chapel in honor of the saint Reverend David, an arbour, belfry and house of the priest. Many people go to the Holy well to take the water and to bathe in the font. And of course it is very beautiful place with good view and fresh air especially in summer.
Creation history
The Holy well was founded not far from the monastery of the Ascension of David desert and soon here was organized courtyard.
How to find
If you want to go to Talezh from Moscow you should go to Kursky railway station and by the Electric multiple unit go to town Chekhov (1 hour from Moscow). In the Chekhov take a bus ¹25 and go to village Talezh. When you will come in Talezh, from the bus stop along the road go to the Holy well 600 meters. If after the visit of the Holy well you won’t be tired, on the way back to Chekhov you can visit the country estate of Anton Chekhov in the village Melikhovo.
