In Melikhovo besides the buildings, you can find two ponds, an orchard and a lilac alley where Anton Pavlovich liked spend free time. In the house you can see what was around the writer and inspectors will tell you very interesting stories about the life of Anton Pavlovich. Also in Melikhovo you will find the wing where was written the famous play “The Seagull”. During the walking you will know Anton Chekhov as a doctor. There is a small clinic in the country estate where he treated the patients.

Creation history

In 1940 Yuri Avdeev with the sister and nephew of Anton Chekhov founded the museum in honor of the famous writer.

How to find

If you want to go to Melikhovo from Moscow you should go to Kursky railway station and by the Electric multiple unit go to town Chekhov (1 hour from Moscow). In the Chekhov take a bus №25 and go to village Melikhovo. The bus stop is next to the country estate, you will find in easily. If after the visit of the Melikhovo you won’t be tired, by the same bus 25 you can go forward to Talezh where is a Holy well, it is not far from Melikhovo.
