Церковь Вознесения ГосподняKolomenskoye was a royal residence in XIV century. Now the homestead is the Museum-Reserve. There are restored buildings since Tsarist Russia, for example the Wooden palace in Kolomenskoe, the Palace of Catherine the Great. On the bank of Moscow River there is big, white and beautiful Church of the Ascension. Also on the bank there is a Palace pavilion and Church of St. George.

On the right side of the Sytnyy yard (rich yard) there you can find age-old oaks. These Oaks are 400 years old. These oaks are oldest oaks in Moscow. Next to oaks you can find a sculpture “Polovets stone idol”. This sculpture is gravestone above the Barrow Polovets Kuma.

Next to oaks there is a house of Peter the Great. Next to the house of Peter the Great there is a beautiful a Garden gate. On the way to the Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist in Djakova you should cross a Golosov ravine. In the ravine you can find two mysterious stones. It is a maidenly stone and Goose stone. If you can’t have a child these stones will help you. Just sit few minutes and these will help you.

Creation history

First information about Kolomenskoye appeared in the 17th century in the testament of Ivan Kalita. After two centuries here was builded the Church of the Ascension by Vasily III. Later Ivan the Terrible builded the Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist. During the reign of Tsar Alexis I Kolomenskoye had blossomed because it was the favorite residence. But after the death of Alexis the Kolomenskoye was destroyed. However since 2001 till 2007 there have done the restoration works.

How to find

Go to metro station Kolomenskoye and exit to the Andropov avenue. Go to the south on this avenue till the building № 39. Here is the central entry to the Kolomenskoye.
