The monument to Sholem Aleichem

Description
The small monument to the Jewish writer of the late 19th century it is a sculpture of the writer in full height on the top the two-tier pedestal.
Bottom part of the pedestal it is a hexahedron from granite with the memorial inscription on it, “To Sholem Aleichem from Muscovites”. On the hexahedron there is a high column from bronze. There are bas-reliefs of the heroes of stories of the Sholem Aleichem on the column.
On the top column there is the sculpture of the writer. He held up his hand to greet the passerby. By the way, a pseudonym Sholem Aleichem what was taken by the young Solomon Naumovich Rabinovich means peace be with you on Yiddish language.
Creation history
The monument was established in 2001 next to a crossroad between Small Bronnaya street and Big Bronnaya street. The sculptor planned the bigger monument but he did not find enough money and created it smaller.
How to find
Go to metro station Pushkinskaya and exit to Tverskoy Boulevard. Go forward on the Boulevard to the crossroad with Small Bronnaya street. While you are walking you can see the monument to Alexander Herzen in the yard of the Literature Institute (Tverskoy Boulevard bld. 25). On the crossroad with Small Bronnaya turn right and go till the crossroad with Big Bronnaya street. Here you will find this monument. Small Bronnaya street bld. 13.
