Description
The real anchor it is a symbol of the naval-power of XVIII century is placed on a big, flat, granite pedestal. There is a year and name of the factory where it was produced. “1723 Olonetsky plant” on the anchor.
Creation history
The anchor was found in 2001 during the aquatic works in the mouth of the Big Nevka river. It was established on in the square of the Stock exchange on the spit of Vasilyevsky Island on the day of the 300th anniversary of the Saint Petersburg.
How to find
Go to metro station Sportivnaya (Sports station) and exit to Dobrolubova avenue. On the avenue go till the crossroad with the Mytninskaya embankment. Through the Academician Likhachev square go on the Birzhevoy Bridge (Exchange Bridge). Cross the Malaya Neva (distributary of Neva River) and after the bridge on the Makarov Embankment turn left and go till the Stock exchange in the Saint Petersburg. Here in the square next to the plan of the Stock exchange from the bronze you will find this anchor.
