With great pleasure and pride we introduce you the monument to the First earthman who flew to space and opened a door to the future and new world. The monument is 42.5 meters in high.
Sculpture of Yuri Gagarin was made from titan and placed on the high ribbed pedestal. He like a rocket “VOSTOK”, by what he flew to the space, directed to blue sky and pedestal like vapor trail stayed as route to new and mysterious world.
There is a model of the space capsule next to the pedestal. There is a memorial inscription on the space capsule: “12 April 1961 Soviet Union's spaceship “VOSTOK” with human on the board made the first flight around the earth. The first human who flew to the space is citizen of Union of Soviet Socialist Republics Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin.
The monument was established to the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980. Project was made by big group specialists. Place was chosen because on this road Yuri Gagarin came to Moscow with his report about success mission.
Go to metro station and exit backward square of Gagarin, where you will see the monument not just to human but to progress of whole humanity.
