Description
The monument to Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky who was father of astronautics theory was made from the stone and placed on the stairs which leads to the Monument to the Conquerors of Space. There a sculpture of a scientist on the big rectangular pedestal.
He is sitting on the stool and on his right knee there is a starry sky map which he presses by the hand. Konstantin Eduardovich thoughtfully is looking to the starry sky and dreaming like there on the skyline a rocket is flying to the space. There is a memorial inscription on the pedestal, “Tsiolkovsky. A founder of the cosmonautic”.
Creation history
The monument was established together with the monument to the Conquerors of Space in 1964, year of the 7th anniversary of the successful launching of the first artificial Earth satellite.
How to find
Go to metro station VDNKh and exit forward to the All-Russia Exhibition Centre. On the street from the left side of the metro station you will see this Great monument to the Conquerors of Space. Go to the monument and in front of it you will find the monument to Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky.
