Description
The monument of Glory it is an obelisk with wide foundation. On the top of the obelisk there is a sculpture of the goddess of the victory Nike. Over her head, she is holding a wreath. On the foundation, there are granite slabs with memorial inscriptions: “In honor the veterans of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. The obelisk of glory was established in year of 50th anniversary of the victory”, “Glory to the soldiers of the army of the fleet, of the air Force and to the soldiers of the civil uprising”, “Glory to the veterans of the defense industry and to workers of the labor front”, “Glory to the defenders of the Oranienbaum Bridgehead and to the citizens of the Blockaded Leningrad”.
Creation history
The monument of Glory was established in 1996 on the alley of Glory in the town Sosnovy Bor on the day of 50th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The monument was created by the sculptor Petrovichev V.A. and by the architect Savchenko U.T.
How to find
By bus go to the bus stop “The shop Nature” and along the street Kosmonavtov (Cosmonaut) go south till the alley of Glory what is located on the crossroad between the street of Kosmonavtov and Soborny lane. Here in the center of the alley in front of the cathedral of the Mother of God icon Burning Bush (Soborny lane bld.1) you will find the monument of Glory.
