Description
The Memorial in honor of the citizens of Zvenigorod and the soldiers of 5th army of the western front of the Soviet Union army who were killed during the Great Patriotic War 1941 – 1945 is located on the big open square and consists of the wide granite stele, the monument to soldier, eternal flame and the mass grave. There is a memorial inscription on the stele, “In honor of the citizens of Zvenigorod and the soldiers of 5th army of the Western Front who were killed during the war 1941-1945”.
In front of the stele from the left side there is a monument to soldier. It shows us a classical image of the Soviet Union army`s soldier. The soldier stands on the watch. There is a martial cloak on his shoulders and a rifle on his right shoulder. In front of the monument there is an eternal flame which looks like a star. From the right side of the stele there is a mass grave with the headstones with the names of the Soviet Union heroes and defenders of the motherland.
Creation history
The memorial was established on the square at the Moscow Street in honor of the heroism of Russian soldiers and simple people who fought against the Nazi for the motherland.
How to find
From the railway station take a bus 24k, 50 or 22 go till the bus stop Magazin ¹3(Shop 3). After that along the Proletarskaya street go back to the crossroad with Moscow Street. Turn left and go around 60 meters and you are at the Memorial in honor of the citizens of Zvenigorod and soldiers of 5th army of the western front who were killed during the Great Patriotic War 1941 – 1945.
