Description
The monument to French president Charles de Gaulle it is sculpture of the president 8 meters in high. He is dressed in parade uniform. The sculpture is placed on a ten meters pedestal. There is a memorial inscription on Russian and French languages on the pedestal. “General Charles de Gaulle the president of French Republic”, “General Charles De Gaulle Le President de la Republique Francaise”.
Creation history
The monument to French president was established on 9 May 2005 in the day of the celebration 60th anniversary the victory in Second World War. The monument was established on the Square of the Charles de Gaulle in front of the Hotel “Cosmos”. On the solemn ceremony were Russian president Vladimir Putin and French president Jacques Chirac.
How to find
Go to metro station VDNH and exit forward to All-Russia Exhibition Centre. When you went out from metro turn right and go to an underground passage and cross the Prospekt Mira Street. Turn left and go to hotel Cosmos (Prospekt Mira bld. 150). Here in front of the entrance to the hotel you will see the monument to Charles de Gaulle.
