Description

A monument – Moscow-Petushki it is a sculptural composition what consist on two sculptures. These two sculptures are the sculptures of the main heroes of the famous prose poem by Venedikt Yerofeyev “Moscow-Petushki”. The first sculpture it is a sculpture of Venichka, he is drunk standing at the bus stop and leaning on the bus schedule. On the other side of the square there is a sculpture of his beloved, she is on the bus stop in Petushki and she is waiting when he will come back. On the pedestal of the sculpture of Venichka there is a memorial inscription: “You must not to trust the opinion of the man who has not yet had a hangover!”. On the pedestal of his beloved there is another memorial inscription: “In Petushki… the jasmine does not fade and bird’s song doesn’t stop”.

Creation history

In honor of 60th anniversary of Venedikt Yerofeyev who wrote this poem was decided to create this sculptural composition. From the beginning was planned to place one sculpture in Moscow and another in Petushki. It was realized according to this decision. So, the sculpture of Venichka was on the Moscow Kurskaya railway station and the sculpture of his red-haired girlfriend was in Petushki. But later was decided to join them, and now the couple is on the square of the struggle in Moscow.

How to find

Go to metro station Mendeleevskaya and exit to Novoslobodskaya street and go along this street toward the north till the street Paliha. Turn right on the street Paliha and go till the crossroad. Cross the crossroad and go along the lane Perunovsky. At the end of the lane Perunovsky you will find the square of the struggle where you will find these two outstanding sculptures.
