Description

Monument to Pushkin - Saint PetersburgThe monument to the great Russian writer and poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin it is a Full-length sculpture of the poet from bronze. The sculpture is located on the big pedestal from black granite. Alexander Sergeyevich is standing with hands crossed on the chest. He is looking thoughtfully into the distance. On the front side of the pedestal there is written “Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin” and below “Established by the city public administration of Saint-Petersburg”. On the left and right side of the pedestal there are lines from his poems “Bronze Horseman” and “The monument”. On the back side of the pedestal there are dates and places of his birth and death. Around the monument there is decorative barrier.

Creation history

The monument was established in 1884 in the Pushkin square on the Pushkin street. It was made by the sculptor Opekushin A.M. and the architect Benois N.L.

How to find

Go to the metro station Ploshad Vosstaniya (Vosstaniya Square) and exit to the Moscow railway station on the Ligovskiy avenue. Cross the Ligovskiy avenue and turn left. Go along the Ligovskiy avenue till the Ligovskiy lane. Here turn right and go along the Ligovskiy lane till the Pushkin square on the Pushkin street. Here on the center of the square you will find this beautiful monument.
