Monument to Polenov – Saint Petersburg

Description
The monument to the founder of the Soviet neurosurgery Andrey Lvovich Polenov it is a bronze bust of the surgeon. The bust is about one meter in high. It is located on the pedestal from the granite what is about three meters in high. On the pedestal, there is a memorial inscription, “Full member of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, the professor Andrey Lvovich Polenov. 1871 - 1947”. Around the monument there is a flower-bed.
Creation history
At the initiative of the scientific community of Leningrad (Saint-Petersburg), the monument to Andrey Lvovich was established in 1954 in front of the building of the Russian Research Neurosurgical Institute named after professor A.L. Polenov where he was the director from 1938 till 1947.
How to find
Go to the metro station Mayakovskaya and exit to the Nevskiy avenue toward the street Mayakovskogo. Along the Nevskiy avenue go thill the street Mayakovskogo and turn right on this street. Along the street Mayakovskogo go till the building of the Russian Research Neurosurgical Institute named after professor A.L. Polenov (Mayakovskogo st. 12) where in the yard you will find the monument to Andrey Lvovich Polenov.
