Monument to Mikhail Lermontov

Description
A monument to the famous Russian poet Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov it is a bronze sculpture of the poet in full height on the high cylindrical pedestal from the granite. He is dressed in a fitted greatcoat. He is standing and holding the hands behind the back. He turned the head to the right. The wind is blowing on the edges of the greatcoat. There is a memorial inscription on the pedestal: “Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov 1814 - 1841”. Behind the monument there is a stele with the images of the characters from his poems and lines from his poem about Moscow.
Creation history
An idea about of the creation the monument was born in 1941, unfortunately the Nazi German aggressors has attacked on our country and the project was not raised. Only in 50th the idea was revived and in 1965 the monument was established on the Lermontov square. The place was chosen because here in the house on the square of the Red gate in 1814 was born a little Mikhail Yuryevich.
How to find
Go to metro station Krasnye Vorota and exit to the Lermontov square. Cross the Kalanchevskaya street and you a on the Lermontov square at the monument to Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov.
