Description

Monument to Ivan ShmelyovA monument bust to Russian writer Ivan Shmelyov looks very simple and you can pass the monument and didn’t see it. The pedestal of the monument looks like column with Fluting. The sculptural portrait was created in his life by the sculptor Lydia Lazunovskaya. You can see the face of the tired man with deep eyes. There is a memorial inscription on the pedestal “Russian writer Ivan Shmelyov”.

Creation history

The monument was established in 2000 in the square next to the crossroad between Big Tolmachevsky lane and Lavrushinsky lane. Also the place was chosen because next to this crossroad there is a building of the Scientific Pedagogical Library where at the end of the XIX century was 6th Moscow High School where Ivan Shmelyov has studied.

How to find

Go to metro station Tretyakovskaya and exit to Klimentovskiy lane. On the street turn left and one minute go toward the Big Ordunka street. Cross the street and go ahead on the Ordunka deadlock go three minutes till the square next to the crossroad between Big Tolmachevsky lane and Lavrushinsky lane where you will find the monument to the famous Russian writer Ivan Shmelyov.
