The monument to Georgi Dimitrov like the monuments to other famous outstanding communist activists is a sculpture of a confidante figure of Bulgarian leader of the communistic party. He is holding his left hand in the trouser pocket. He clenched his right hand into a fist and hold in front of himself. Bravery and confidence are shown on his courageous face.
There is a granite pedestal under the sculpture. There is a memorial inscription on the pedestal, “To Georgi Dimitrov, the outstanding of the international communist movement. 1882-1949”.
The monument was established on the square near of the crossroad between the streets Bolshaya Yakimanka and Bolshaya Polyanka in 1972. Place was chosen because in 1956 street Bolshaya Yakimanka was renamed in Dimitrov street but in 1992 street was back its old name but the monument wasn’t destroyed by a wave of the democracy and hatred to all what was created in Soviet Union times.
Go to metro station Polyanka and exit to Bolshaya Polyanka. On the street next to the building 26C2 turn left and go ahead till the crossroad with Bolshaya Yakimanka street. Here on the square you will see this historical monument in honor of the famous Bulgarian politics of the beginning on the XX century.
