Description
The monument in honor of the constructors of the first artificial Earth satellite it is a sculpture of the worker who is holding overhead the first artificial Earth satellite. The first artificial Earth satellite was designed and built by Soviet Union`s scientists and other different workers of our country. That why the monument shows us a worker.
There is a small square pedestal under the sculpture with the memorial inscription, “In honor of the constructors of the first artificial Earth satellite. 1957”. If you carefully look on the satellite you can see that there are three antennas on the satellite when on the real satellite there were four antennas. But it is not so important, just interesting fact.
Creation history
The monument was established in 1963 at the metro station Rizhskaya in honor of the 6th anniversary after the first launching of the first artificial Earth satellite.
How to find
Go to metro station Rizhskaya and exit to the Rizhskaya square. Go around the metro building and there you will see the monument in honor of the constructors of the first artificial Earth satellite.
