Description

Monument “Farewell of Slavianka”Probably the monument “Farewell of Slavianka” is a single monument in the world which is devoted to the piece of music. It is no wonder because this patriotic march which was written in 1912 became a symbol of the great tragedy of the two world wars and also became a symbol of the hope that soldier will come back home to the family.

The monument it is a sculptural composition from the two sculptures of the soldier and his wife. They are pictured in the moment of the farewell on the railway station. She is seeing off the husband to the war. The monument is almost two meters in height was made from the bronze and was placed on small round pedestal. Around the monument there is a text of the most popular version of the poem for this melody.

From the left and right side of the monument there are two street lights in old style. On the street lights there are shields with the dates of the beginning of the world wars 1914 and 1941. Around the shields there are weapons which were used during these wars. Behind the shields there are wreaths with the military awards: Cross of St. George and Order of the Red Star.

Creation history

The monument was made by the sculptor Scherbakov Salavat Alexandrovich and in 2014 was established on the square of the Belorussky railway station by Russian Military Historical Society with support of the Russian Railways.

How to find

Go to metro station Belorusskaya (Green line) and exit to the Belorussky railway station. On the street turn right and go around the building of the railway station. After that go to the territory of the railway station to the railways of the suburban service. When you will come to the square in front of the railways you will find the monument “Farewell of Slavianka”.
