Memorial stone in honor of the Sukharev Tower

Description
There is a memorial stone in honor of the Sukharev Tower in the square next to the metro station Sukharevskaya. The Sukharev Tower was built more than 200 years ago in 1691. Unfortunately it was dismantled in 1934 when was creating the Garden ring. The memorial stone it is rectangular stone with cut corners on the small pedestal.
There is a picture of the Sukharev Tower on the stone. Also there is a memorial inscription under the picture, “On this square stood the Sukharev Tower where from 1701 till 1715 was Moscow School of Mathematics and Navigation – the first secular institution where studied future cadres of the Russian navy”.
Creation history
The monument established in 1996 in year of the 300th anniversary of the Russian navy. In 1982 appeared an idea to recreate the Tower, what was dismantled in 1934. Unfortunately the project was not incarnated.
How to find
Go to metro station Sukharevskaya and exit to Big Sukharevskaya square. Go to the small square next to the metro where in the center you will find the memorial stone in honor of the best known landmarks and symbols of Moscow and Russian architecture.
