Description

Memorial of Glory in NoginskThe main element of the memorial of Glory is an eternal flame as a symbol of eternal memory of heroes who were killed during the Second World War. The eternal flame traditionally is decorated like a star like a highest distinction in the Soviet Union and Russia (Hero of the Soviet Union).

There is a 14 meters in high stele behind the eternal flame with bas-relief of the order of Victory. Above the order of Victory there is a memorial inscription “1941-1945. An eternal glory to the defenders of the motherland!”. There is a bronze plate with the memorial inscription in the bottom part of the stele, “During the War 37000 citizens of the Noginsk went to the front, 14875 of them were killed or lost in action”.

From the left and right side the stele there are two walls from the granite with a white bas-reliefs with images of the Warrior-Liberator and mother with a child. Also there are names of the cities Moscow, Brest, Sofia, Berlin on the walls. From the left and right sides of the memorial there are 11 blocks with encapsulated soils from hero cities of Russia.

Later from both sides of the memorial were created alleys of glory with memorial granite plates in honor of 30 heroes of the Soviet Union citizens of Noginsk.

Creation history

The sculptor Peter Vasilevich Peretynkin and Eugene Dyumin were created this memorial almost one year. The memorial of Glory was established 9 May 1974 in day of 29th anniversary of the great victory in the Second World War against Nazi Germany. The memorial was established on the square of the victory in Noginsk. Later 9 May 1980 on the 35 anniversary on the great victory next to the memorial were established blocks with encapsulated soils from hero cities of Russia. On the 40 anniversary of the great victory in 1985 there were established memorial granite plates in honor of 30 heroes of the Soviet Union citizens of Noginsk.

How to find

If you are going to go to Noginsk from Moscow you should start from Kursky railway station (Gorkovskoye direction of Moscow Railways). By the Electric multiple unit go till station Noginsk. From the station go to the bus station next to the railway station. Pass the square of the bus station and go to the Cathedral street (Sobornaya street). On this street go ahead till the square of the victory on the crossroad of the Cathedral street and Soviet Union street. There on the square you will see the Memorial of Glory.
