Cutter hero

Description
Like the famous cruiser Aurora in Saint Petersburg in Nizhny Novgorod there is a monument to a ship. It’s not the cruiser but cutter. In contrast to Aurora what placed in the water the cutter hero is placed on the bank on the big pedestal. There is a stairs from the monument to the river.
Creation history
The cutter hero definitely isn’t so famous like his big brother in Saint Petersburg but it has long and glorious history of fighting. Beginning from the fights in Russian Civil War till the battle next to Stalingrad against the fascist aggressors in the Second World War. In 1985 it was placed on the pedestal and started new live like the monument in honor of all sailors. The monument was established on the 40th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War (1941 – 1945).
Tradition
It is a tradition place where the newly married couples go after the registry office. The newly married couples tie the ribbons to the cutter and for a good luck they break a bottle of champagne.
How to find
The monument is placed on the Nizhegorodskaya bank next to the Beautiful staircase Chkalov. Go to bus stop the Cutter hero. (routes: T117, T42). Here on the bank of the Volga river you will see the cutter hero.
