Chapel of Our Lady of Kazan - Yaroslavl

Description
A Chapel of Our Lady of Kazan in Yaroslavl it is a monument of the orthodox architecture which was made from white granite. A shape of the chapel looks like a rocket. Above the curved arch of the chapel there are the pictures of the icons. On the top of the roof there is a golden Orthodox cross. Inside the chapel there is a stained glass with the image of Our Lady of Kazan but there is no the altar and the iconostasis. In the center of the chapel there is a bell as symbol of national unity in difficult times. In the evening the chapel has a beautiful highlighting.
Creation history
The chapel was built in 1997 near the Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Yaroslavl by the project of the architect Dainov Gregory Lvovich. The chapel immediately became very popular place. Every day to the chapel comes the citizens and guests of Yaroslavl. Also the newly wedded couple likes to come here after wedding ceremony. The chapel is so popular that it is pictured on the banknote one thousand rubles.
How to find
By buses 4, 4A, 13, 16, 41, 41B, 72 or by trolleybus 72 go to the bus stop Bogoyavlenskaya (Epiphany Square) Square. From the bus stop turn left and go along the walls of the friary till the Pervomayskaya street. Here turn right and again go along the walls of the friary till the crossroad with the Kotorosl embankment. Here again turn right and go till the main entrance to the friary. Here in front of the entrance to the friary you will find the chapel of Our lady of Kazan.
