Monument to Saints Cyril and Methodius

Description
A monument to Saints Cyril and Methodius is two sculptures of the Saints on the massive pedestal. Cyril and Methodius are represented as persons who bring the Holy Scriptures and as creators of the alphabet.
Creation history
The monument was established in 1992 at the beginning of the Ilinskiy square instead the honours board of Soviet industrial undertakings in Moscow region. After that part of the square was renamed in Slavyanskaya Square. The monument was established on 24 may, Saints Cyril and Methodius Day. In 863 two Greek brothers created Cyrillic alphabet and translated the holy books: Gospel, Psalms and Apostle. There is an interesting thing, in the writings on the pedestal you can find 5 grammatical mistakes.
Traditions
Every year on 24 may at the monument there is celebrated Saints Cyril and Methodius Day.
How to find
Go to the metro station Kitay-gorod of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line and exit to Street Varvarka it is next to Slavyanskaya Square. Here at the beginning of the Ilinskiy square you will find the monument to Saints Cyril and Methodius. Lubyansky passage bld. 27.
