Museum-estate boat of Peter the Great

On the bank of beautiful Lake Pleshcheyevo in the village Veskovo what is near the town Pereslavl-Zalessky there is a unique and very interesting museum-estate Boat of Peter the Great. The main exhibit of the museum is the boat from the amusing flotilla of Peter the Great. Besides the building with the boat of Peter the Great there is a lodge, triumphal arch, gazebo, pelisse and white palace in the museum-estate. In the front of the building of the museum of the Boat there is a monument to Peter the Great which is a not high granite obelisk with the Double-headed eagle on the top. Near the entrance to the museum-estate there is the second monument to Peter the Great. It is a bronze sculpture of the emperor in full height on the simple rectangular pedestal which decorated with granite plates. This museum is the first provincial museum in Russia.

Creation history

The museum was founded in 1802 after arrival to the embankment of the Lake Pleshcheyevo of Ivan Mikhailovich Dolgorukov who was a governor of the governorate Vladimirskaya. After a year here was opened the museum. Around the last boat from the amusing flotilla of Peter the Great was built a building of the museum. In 1842 near the museum was built the lodge. After ten years in front of the museum was established the monument to Peter the Great and was built the triumphal arch. In 1853 was built the white palace. In the same time was built the pelisse. And finally in 1913 was on the territory of the museum-estate was built the gazebo.

How to find

If you go from Moscow on Yaroslavskoe highway when you will reach Pereslavl-Zalessky along the Moscow Street you should go till the crossroad with the street Podgornaya (Piedmont). Turn left and go along the street Podgornaya about the four kilometers till the museum-estate Boat of Peter the Great.
